The Fly Fishing Podcast
The Fly Fishing Podcast
Here you will find updates on fly fishing, particularly on the River Cam, discussion of new flies and effective patterns, advice on how to tie and fish new flies, and many more tips and techniques.
As much as you might want to, you can’t fish all the time(!), so this blog will also include reviews of fishing books, and of places to eat, drink and have a good time.
Why podcasts?
Sometimes you don't have time to just sit and read - and sometimes I just don't have time to write. Instead, this site will also let you for example, choose to view a picture of the latest river conditions, the fly of the week, a video of how to tie it, and audio advice on how and where to fish it. You’re welcome to use any of the pictures or written content in the blogs blog for your personal use.
Why am I doing this?
At its best, fishing brings sharing, nurture and support. Talking about it helps us to strengthen our sport and to bring others in to the world of fishing.
Fishing gives us so much in life, and we need to protect it. If there are more people out there fishing, there are more people who care, and that can make the world a better place. Our aqueous environment is facing increasing threat, fly life is dying out, invading species are coming in, and there is increased predation and siltation, with associated river flow drop off, water abstraction and increased filamentous algae growth. For centuries, we as mankind have had an attitude of “out of sight, out of mind.” Our water has been soiled by more than just the odd shopping trolley. So the site is made in recognition that the need to help fish and their habitats is a global, local and personal concern and angling is at its best as a global fraternity.
